Fricka – sister, goddess, wife, mother
A live event on Monday 9th October at 19.oo in the Friends’ Meeting House, Mount Street, Manchester, M2 5NS.
Fricka is often overlooked when the Ring is talked about but she is very important to the plot and has a lot to say in the relatively short time she is on stage. In this lecture, we will examine what Fricka says, to whom and what effect it has backed up by the music which, so often, gives us the subtext. Of course, by the time this lecture is given, many of us will already have seen the new ‘Das Rheingold’ at Covent Garden but we still have Longborough’s Ring in store next summer and several others around the world.
Derek Blyth is our president and a very experienced lecturer. As it says above, this is a LIVE event as an experiment so please support it, if you are able. The meeting is free to members and £15 to visitors who can pay below or on the door at the event – cash or cheque only, please. We are planning to have a meal together in central Manchester, immediately after this event so stand by for further information.
