Almost from the moment films were shown publicly, Wagner’s music has amplified, illustrated, and otherwise guided the audience’s experience, perhaps no more effectively and notoriously than in animated cartoons. In this presentation, Daniel Goldmark provides an overview of where and how Hollywood animation studios use Wagner’s music, from shorts to features to television shows. 
Prof. Daniel Goldmark is Director of Popular Music Studies, at Case Western Reserve University. Cleveland.  He writes about American popular music, film and cartoon music, the history of the music industry, and popular music in Cleveland.
