This rather strange opening of Das Rheingold takes place in a flooded quarry in Sweden. The performance took place in Dalhalla on 10th August 2013, was directed by Marcus Jupither with Anders Larsson as Wotan. It’s clearly trying to replicate Wagner’s instructions to the letter.
