Tuesday October 29th at 19.00 via Zoom
On Tuesday October 29th at 7pm, there will be a joint meeting with the London and Edinburgh Wagner Societies VIA ZOOM where Ulrich Jagels will be talking to us about what happens behind the scenes at the Bayreuth Festival, covering issues like the changing audience, sales and marketing initiatives, finance, and building renovations.
Ulrich Jagels is Managing Director of the Bayreuth Festival, the second-in-command of the Festival after Katherina Wagner. Jagels, who is a business economist, has held positions at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Foundation, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, the Städtische Theater at Chemnitz and, most recently, as Administrative Director of the Leipzig Opera, where he was responsible for several construction projects with an estimated total volume of 30 million euros – including the elaborate renovation of the Musikalische Komödie, one of the few German theatres specifically for the operetta genre. He has been working at the Bayreuth Festival since 2021
