In conversation with conductor Richard Farnes
We are delighted to welcome Richard Farnes, the conductor, to our monthly Zoom series at 7pm on Monday November 14th. Richard was Music Director of Opera North from 2004 to 2016., during which time he developed a close affinity with Wagner, touring concert, video-enhanced, performances of the Ring across the UK and winning public and critical acclaim, including the 2017 Royal Philharmonic Society Opera and Music Theatre award, with Farnes named Conductor of the Year. He has recently conducted semi-staged and concert performances of Parsifal, also with Opera North. He made his Royal Opera House debut in 2002, and Metropolitan Opera debut in 2019, and has frequently conducted at English National Opera. As well as specialising in opera he guest-conducts symphony orchestras across the UK, including London Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.
